They are... [He will save the exasperation of telling her about Sherlock Holmes and that he's a real person she may have read about... And that he has to see the man on the regular these days. That'll be a fun surprise for later.] I was also... [He pauses wanting to say this properly, instinctively he reaches for her hand beneath the covers.]

Lord Ferdinand spoke of my brother and how proud he would be. We can't speak for the dead, of course. We can't know their thoughts or feelings. But I knew my brother better than most. [Or thought he did.] I at least knew my brother's love for me if nothing else... And I know that he would have adored you too. I feel strongly that you'd have been welcomed into our home with open arms. I wish I could give you a more stable house and family name to find shelter within. But... I hope you still find it satisfactory.
